Gearing Up for Back-to-School Success

With summer winding down, it’s time to think about the upcoming school year. HUSK has some tips to help make the transition smoother:

  1. Start adjusting sleep schedules a week or two early. The National Sleep Foundation recommends school-aged children get 9-11 hours of sleep per night.

  2. Set up a dedicated study area at home. Research shows that a consistent study space can improve focus and retention.

  3. Get school supplies organized ahead of time. This can reduce stress and save money. The National Retail Federation estimates the average family spends $696.70 on back-to-school shopping.

  4. Plan some fun family activities to balance work and play. The American Academy of Paediatrics emphasizes the importance of playtime for children’s development.

  5. Gradually reintroduce academic activities, like reading or educational games, to ease back into learning mode.

  6. Discuss any anxieties or concerns your child might have about returning to school.

Taking these small steps can make a big difference. Let’s make this school year great!
